![]() The presumed leader of this Tusken faction offers him water, which (if Dune has taught us anything) is a huge deal even if it appears as a simple gesture on screen. ![]() We imagine Tusken individuality will matter if flashbacks to Fett’s time with the tribe continue into the next episode.īut the most interesting detail in the flashback is the way Fett seemingly earns their respect by killing the six-limbed sand creature and protecting the Tusken child. ![]() Even in The Mandalorian, the Tuskens still wore the beige uniform look originally created for Star Wars in the late 1970s, but here, a notion of individuality finally starts to appear. Nevertheless, there is artistry in the design of their tents and, as seen here, the individual ornamentation of their clothing. They live a harsh nomadic life on the Tatooine sands, where water is extremely scarce and any notion of a permanent settlement is laughable. What they exactly do to those invaders has always been up for debate, but from what we see here, it is a combination of using captured peoples for sport and slave labor.ĭespite that brutality, though, Favreau and Rodriguez suggest some nobility among them. As Din Djarin ( Pedro Pascal) notes in The Mandalorian, they are native to the planet and view other humanoids as invading species. From the original Star Wars and Attack of the Clones, we know they attack humanoid settlements. Tusken society is one of those barely-glimpsed sectors of the galaxy Favreau and his collaborators love to investigate. Nevertheless, the struggle to escape the creature’s digestive process left him vulnerable to Jawas, who stole his armor, and Tuskens, who took him prisoner. The Tusken Period: Boba Fett Proves His Mettle While Protecting a Child of His CaptorsĬlearly, Fett was already in bad shape when he awoke in the stomach of the Sarlacc and, as we saw in this episode, escaped from what C-3PO called “a new definition of pain and suffering” within its innards. Some of those injuries may be explained away in the episode’s extended flashbacks. While in the bacta tank, we get the briefest flashback to Kamino and Boba as a child (Daniel Logan) from that film, which may leave some wondering if, perhaps, surviving clones will factor into Fett’s book.īut to return to the bacta tank, it is clear Fett’s injuries are more than skin deep as he needs the aid of the Gamorean bodyguards to get back to it after the assassination attempt in Mos Espa. As seen in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones he asked the cloners of Kamino for one unaltered clone to raise as his son. In one way, it serves a production reality – making up Morrison in the more scarred make-up he wore in The Mandalorian would not be advantageous to the actor or the schedule – but it also speaks to the vanity Boba inherited from his father, Jango (also Morrison). Bacta for Boba: Flashbacks Reveal How Deep the Bounty Hunter’s Scars RunĬlearly, Jabba the Hutt and Bib Fortuna kept a nice stash of equipment in their palace, including a healing bacta tank ready to repair Fett’s damaged skin.
